The king of gazal, Talat Mahmood was born on 24 th Feb, 1924 in Lucknow and died on 9 th May, 1998, was the Shahenshah-e-gazal better recognised form Hindi cinema. In 1992 he received Padma Bhusan. He was trained under Pt. S.C.R. Bhat, and got his first break from Bengali film industry. He was the first Indian singer to go abroad for stage shows. He sang over 800 songs in his career. He married Nasreen and had two children. Some of his works are Humse Aaya Na Gaya, Jayen To Jayen Kahan, Jalte Hai Jiske Liye.
